of Earthquakes and Lifequakes

2011 and my family has survived the earthquake. I feel it should be spelt with a capital e. Earthquake. The new rule is, if you have survived it, spell it with a capital.

During the turmoil the family has grown. Another grandchild and another reason for me to ponder on the Lifequakes. I spell with a capital, I have survived them.

Instead of Mother nature upending everything around you, they are the quakes that upend your life. They cause brain liquefaction, the making of decisions, some good and, on looking back, some bad. Those decisions that alter the course that your life was on.

“What if I had done that?”

“What if that hadn’t happened?”

“What if that had?”

After Earthquakes there are tears, recovery and rebuilding. After Lifequakes, there is the same and then with both, the "what ifs".

If the Earthquake hadn’t razed the house that stood there, where would that tree now be growing? If that Lifequake hadn’t happened would this child now be born?

Welcome to the family and to this shaky old world Draven Romeo.
